Neuroplasticity

Until recently it was believed that brain development and recovery stopped in adulthood, but modern brain neuroimaging techniques have allowed reconceptualizing the dynamics of the central nervous system and its functioning. There is evidence that shows that the brain can change for certain circumstances, not only during childhood and adolescence, but also during adulthood and even in situations of brain injury, which means that the brain is flexible and modifiable. The term denoting these changes in the brain is called neuronal plasticity.

Another concept on which rehabilitative methods are based is Neuro Plasticity is the potentiality of the modifying nervous system to form nerve connections in response to new information, sensory stimulation, development, dysfunction or damage. In general, neuro plasticity is usually associated with learning that takes place in childhood, but its limitations go beyond and have a historical trajectory.
